Green chic lifestyle hotel, Langham Place, Mongkok, Hong Kong,
was awarded this morning a Gold award by the Environmental Campaign
Committee for the Hong Kong Awards for Environmental Excellence
(HKAEE), under the Hotels and Recreational Clubs Sectoral Awards
2011 category, recognising the hotel's continuous green efforts to
support sustainability and embrace environmental awareness.
Founded in 2008 and led by the Environmental Campaign Committee,
the HKAEE encourages businesses and organisations to adopt green
management and benchmark their commitment towards best practices
within their sectors, acknowledging the efforts of leading business
and organisations.
Winning the award for the second time, the hotel has
continuously engaged in various initiatives from its infancy 8
years ago to create a green space through the lens of environmental
responsibility. "Greening our place starts with me" - it's a slogan
and also a sustainability commitment of lifestyle luxe hotel,
Langham Place in Mongkok, by looking into every detail and
exploring every possible way to protect the environment with their
green-minded staff and green-savvy guests.
The hotel has strived to reduce their carbon emissions and its
carbon footprint through a wide variety of innovative, environmentally-friendly features,
ranging from energy-saving heat pumps to recover heat from chillers
and supply hot water to the guestrooms, tech-smart paperless iPad
menus in its restaurants and bars, to recycling food waste and
cooking oils, pioneering these for the industry. For guests driving
with a green attitude, Langham Place, Mongkok, Hong Kong steps in
as the first hotel in Hong Kong offering to pump up guests'
electrical vehicles for free, at the hotel car park's electric
vehicle charger.
Jessica Yau, the hotel's Environmental Management System
Manager, talks more on this, saying "The hotel's green care also
radiates to the local community. Partnering up with non-profit
organisations such as UNICEF, the Hong Kong Playground Association,
the Lions Club of Central and more, we are able to encourage our
team of talent to spend a little bit of time each year helping
those less fortunate, and share their love".
Spearheading in elevating the green experience, Langham Place,
Mongkok, Hong Kong has obtained the internationally recognised
ISO14001 environmental management system certificate, EarthCheck
Silver Certificate and the Indoor Environmental Quality Certificate
from the international body SGS.
